I am pretty excited about their big day! I know that Shelly’s little girl is going to be a beautiful jr. bridesmaid and just might steal the show with those awesome blue eyes of hers! We had fun exploring Meadlowlark Gardens and I was super impressed when Shelly was ALL for getting up in the barn loft IN HER HEELS!!! That is some talent… I can’t wait to see you guys again soon! Although, Carolyn was probably the most laid back bride you could meet… cool as a cucumber… seriously… down to the minute. Maybe she was anxious on the inside, but I am pretty sure that afternoon, no one knew it! She and Francois have a pretty unique story… they met in Griffin (her hometown) but HE is from South Africa and a month after they started dating SHE moved to Vietnam to teach English! So alot of their official dating relationship was overseas and they got to know the world of SKYPE very well!!! Being long distance i know was hard, but they learned pretty quick one of the hardest aspects of marriage, COMMUNICATION! I was excited to meet this guy that captured her heart and MY kids seemed to approve (that is somewhat critical in MY house). They loved him… and if you were in the back of the crowd at the wedding you might have overheard my son say, “Daddy, Francois gave her a Beauty and the Beast kiss!” Carolyn has been someone our family has loved… starting out as her youth director, but after she moved on… a friend (and a fun babysitter for the kids).

Their day was full of fun and laughter (and lots of amazing friends/family doing some amazing things behind the scenes to bring her vision all together). It was fun to see so many people there surrounding her and Francois with love, prayers, and best wishes for a great start to a new chapter in their lives! I hope your day was everything you guys hoped for and i hope you love your preview!

The weather all week called for RAIN and thunderstorms which make everyone nervous these days only a few weeks after the tornadoes, but only about 24 hours before the wedding the forecast for rain, changed to sunshine and COOL weather! It was amazing… perfect for a spring wedding! Everything was beautiful, the bride was gorgeous, the groom was handsome, and it seemed like everyone around them was having a great hair day! The ceremony took place at St. George’s Episcopal Church and was so beautiful and intimate! After a few pictures the bride and groom jumped in a Mustang that has become a family tradition for the Doughties, and we all headed out to the Griffin Country Club to dance the night away! The band, GOOD VIBRATIONS, was incredible and did a GREAT job of keeping everyone on their feet! I am so glad that I got to be apart of this wedding. Getting to know Kelly and Chad and their story was so fun… and for me… and added bonus is that not only are they related to some of my sweet families that is see on a regular basis, BUT about 75% of the guest were either clients of mine or somehow related to clients of mine! I love it! I know that both Kelly and Chad loved being surrounded by so many people that have impacted their lives through the years! Best wishes you guys! First of all, I didn’t quite realize there were mountains that close to me (in GA), and 2nd of all, i was also informed that this might be the worst year for TICKS! Yuck! HA! I was excited to see this special place… literally a (beautiful) cabin in the mountains! Abby and Oscar (their furry kids) joined us for the shoot and were very sweet and a great addition to the shoot. I have never had a “bride to be” hop in the back of a truck with 2 dogs all dressed up and manage to not get whacked in the head with tree limbs! We hiked… did a little rock hopping… and i KNOW that chad might have wished I was the one sitting in the back of the truck when I asked him (for the 100th) time, “do you think your truck will make it up this hill?” or “do you think that rock just popped your tire.” I was a nervous passenger… but of course we survived (they never seemed worried) and came out with some amazing pictures for them! I loved meeting the donkeys and goats! Thanks guys for (keeping me safe) choosing me to shoot your wedding! Can’t wait to see you in just a few short weeks!
