The Infirmary in Jamaica

Our camp was in the mountains near Mandeville. There is an infirmary located in each parish of the country. This is a place for the mentally and physically handicapped, those who can’t care for themselves, and those who have no one around to care for them. It is a very intense place to visit. I use the word intense for several reasons. The smell can make you nauseous, the vision of the severely crippled can bring tears to your eyes, and the joy that surrounds many of those that live this is sometimes just so overwhelming. Some of them absolutely love visitors, some want visitors, but can’t really communicate, and a few patients want nothing to do with us. I have visited this same place about 6 times since I was 14 and it is encouraging to see the progress that facility is making. Son Servants has played a vital role in the love and protection that surrounds that place. You can definetly see the face of Christ in these people.
